Kathuri Murungi Profile
Kathuri Murungi was born in South Imenti Meru County. He is the member of Parliament for South Imenti Constituency in Meru County.
He was elected to the National Assembly in March 2013 on a The National Alliance (TNA) Party ticket in the Jubilee Alliance.
In the National Assembly he is a member of Departmental Committee on Environment & Natural Resources since March 2013.
Kathuri Murungi has spoken 289 times in Parliament since March 2013 till May 2016.
Kathuri Murungi Education Background
He joined Egerton University, Njoro Campus in 1994 for a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management and graduated in 1998.
While in Campus he learnt martial arts purely for self defence. “You never knew what or who could attack you during the multi-party agitation era.” He quips.
On matters politics, He was not very active in student leadership, even though he ensured he always voted for his favourite candidate.
Kathuri Murungi involved in road accident
In February 2014, Mr. Murungi sustained minor bruises after his vehicle was involved in an accident at Mufu area of Embu County, along the Embu-Meru highway.
His vehicle rolled several times and landed in a valley, 30 metres away from the road. Area police boss Njoroge Mbugua said the MP, who was traveling to Meru, was in the company of his body guard, while the other car which was heading towards Embu had two occupants.
“The vehicles collided at the sharp bend leading Murungi’s driver to lose control and veer off the road. The vehicle hit and went over the rail guards, rolled several times before being stopped by a tree stump”, Mbugua said.
Mbugua said the 200 metre stretch which has sharp bends is a known black spot.
