Benson Itwiku Mbai Profile

Benson Itwiku Mbai was born on 14 July 1959 in Masinga Machakos County. He is the Member of Parliament for Masinga Constituency in Machakos County. He has been the area MP from 2002.

In 2002 he was elected to the seat on a NARC ticket, 10 2007 he rode on the ODM-K party ticket and in 2013 he contested and won on a FORD-People party ticket.

In the National Assembly he is a member of the Departmental Committee on Lands and Natural Resources from 2013.

From 2008 – 2013 he was a member of Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Committee and the Library Committee.

Benson Itwiku Mbai finished his O-level education in 1978. From 1985 – 1997 he was an accountant.

In 1997 he contested for the Ikatini Ward civic post and won. From 1999 – 2002 he was the Chairman of the Masaku County Council.

August 2015, MPs Benson Itwiku Mbai, Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome) and former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile attended the forum where they declared Governor Alfred Mutua was the regional political and development messiah for Ukambani and should be supported by all progressive leaders.

Benson Itwiku Mbai added that the Governor’s development track record was great and should be replicated across the other Ukambani counties.

Benson Itwiku Mbai opposed CDF Banning

The leaders also observed that the 2014/2015 funds had already been distributed, and the 2015/16 funds had already been put in proposition and hence unconstitutional.

Speaking in his Masinga Constituency, Itwiku Mbai condemned the ruling, explaining that the funds in the previous years have been able to stir development and help those in need at the grassroots level.

Itwiku was speaking as he addressed Masinga residents and the press in his office.

“The residents of Masinga have been benefiting from the CDF funds a lot and the money should be left with the Members of Parliament because they know the problems of their people. It has helped the poor get access help from the government. In Masinga, 42 schools have been built and enabled more than 10,000 students get skills and education,” said Mbai
