Johnstone Muthama says Raila Can’t be CORD’s 2017 presidential candidate
Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama, has urged Ukambani leaders to support former Vice President, Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid in 2017 because he will be CORD’s presidential flag bearer.
Speaking in Mutungulu sub-county on Tuesday, Muthama urged residents of the area to throw their weight behind Kalonzo because he will be the coalition’s flag bearer if CORD leaders follow the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) they signed in 2013.
Muthama said that the MoU states that if Raila fails in 2013, Kalonzo Musyoka will vie for the Presidency in 2017 and Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, in 2022.
The outspoken Senator said that the time is right for the Kamba people to dictate their political future and not let others lead the way for them.
“2017 is our time and all Ukambani leaders must support Kalonzo Musyoka because I am sure he will be the CORD presidential flag bearer in 2017,” Muthama said.
The Senator spoke some weeks after Kalonzo urged Raila Odinga to abandon a fourth Presidential bid and instead back him in the 2017 contest against President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Raila and his sycophants are yet to respond to Kalonzo’s plea.
