Kalonzo Musyoka joins Uhuru Kenyatta in Jubilee Coalition on 19th of May
After several months of speculation linking him to a move to Uhuru/ Ruto’s Jubilee following his frustrations in former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s CORD, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has confirmed CORD’s worst fears.
Kalonzo has asserted that he will be among those who will receive President Uhuru Kenyatta in Ukambani in two weeks’ time.
Speaking over the weekend, Kalonzo said that he will accompany Uhuru on his tour of Lower Eastern to inspect and initiate development projects.
He noted that as a member of the Opposition and the CORD fraternity, they are not opposed to development and as such he will be among the Kamba leaders who will accompany Uhuru on his tour of Ukambani.
“I will be here to welcome the President. We are not against development,” said Kalonzo while addressing a gathering at Kaningo Secondary School in Mwingi North Constituency
“Uhuru’s visit will serve to actualise the people’s constitutional right to development,” Kalonzo added.
Reliable sources intimate that it was Kalonzo who invited Uhuru to Ukambani in the first place to initiate development projects as a way of countering Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua who led a delegation of over 10,000 Kamba leaders to State House to sign deals on behalf of the people of Ukambani.
However, Kalonzo’s move has not been received well by other CORD members, especially Raila Odinga’s supporters, and they are now reconsidering their camaraderie.
