Saida Swaleh, Biography, KTN News Anchor, Family
Saida Swaleh is an award winning journalist who has been part of the Kenya Television Network (KTN) team since April 2011. She learned much of her trade while working with Internews in Kenya.
She attained her B.A (Journalism and media studies, Broadcast Journalism) degree at the University of Nairobi from 2007 – 2010
Saida Swaleh Job History
Saida is best known for her soft spot for human interest stories and features. She Joined KTN Kenya in 2011
In 2013she won the Gender Reporting Award with her colleague Angel Katusia. Dubbed “Flesh of My Flesh,” the winning story was about the sex trade and included interviews with women who were sex workers and drug dealers in Mombasa, Malindi, Ukunda and Nairobi.
In 2012 she was honored as first runner-up for the Media Council of Kenya’s Young Journalist of the Year Awards.
In June 2013, she produced an in-depth story for KTN called “Prisoner of My Skin” on the brutal trade in the body parts of people living with albinism. Particularly in neighboring Tanzania, there is a huge demand for albino body parts because they are believed to contain magical powers.

Away from her decorated media career, Swaleh is a loving wife to Abdul Jaleel Komen. The two, married since 2013, are also blessed with an adorable daughter. Abdul Jaleel Komen is a researcher officer at the Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) Mombasa.
Saida Swaleh Wedding
In 2010 Saida and Abdul Jaleel Komen were just strangers but a chance meeting at a mutual friend’s house started a friendship that culminated in a beautiful coastal wedding at the Nyali Beach Hotel, Mombasa.
An elated Saida commented on her official twitter page the next day “Nobody said it would be easy, but nothing in life worth having ever is. I thank Allah for this day as well as our parents and friends.”
The couple spent their honeymoon in Seychelles.
