Why ODM MPs used whistles to disrupt Uhuru Kenyatta speech in Parliament
Politicians allied to Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM used whistles to disrupt President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address yesterday in Parliament as a way of getting the President’s attention and also to register their displeasure in the way the country is being run.
No sooner had the President began his speech than the ODM politicians begun shouting him down and blowing whistles to disrupt him.
The session turned chaotic that the Speakers of the two Houses had to throw some of the unruly ODM politicians out of the chambers to restore sanity.
The CORD legislators had planned for days to do what they did yesterday and even settled on whistles to send their message across loud and clear.
But why did they use whistles when they could have used other means to get Uhuru’s attention?
Well, sources reveal the choice of whistles by the Opposition was not random but a well thought out idea.
The Opposition leaders claimed that the whistles signaled the beginning of the end of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s rule just like it symbolizes the end of a match in a football game.
