Francis Waweru Nderitu rejects Monica Juma’s Nomination as Secretary to the Cabinet
In June 2015, Francis Waweru Nderitu said The National Assembly will not be used as a rubber stamp merely because the President has presented names for approval.
He defended the rejection of Dr Monica Juma’s nomination as Secretary to the Cabinet, saying she lacked passion to serve the public and elected leaders.
Mr Nderitu said the rejection by the House should not be misconstrued to mean that MPs do not support the President. It was a clear statement to public officers that they must act diligently and respect their offices, he said.
He also criticised Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution Chairman Charles Nyachae for threatening to take action against the House committee for rejecting the nominee.
Mr Nyachae had argued that the MPs contravened the law in rejecting the nominee, but the MP called for his sacking.
