Anne Waiguru accuses Parliament of being puppets of the Media
Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru, caused a storm in Parliament Buildings yesterday when she was being grilled by MPs over the theft of sh 180 million from the Youth Fund.
The lady at the centre of Kenya’s biggest scam in Uhuru’s administration accused MPs in the Public Investment Committee (PIC) of being puppets of the media and playing to its gallery.
Waiguru was outraged by the committee and accused members of making queries to satisfy the media rather than seek genuine answers.
“I don’t think there is a link between the loss of Sh 180 million and this particular board member or a particular board unless we are doing it for the media,” retorted Waiguru.
However, Waiguru’s statements angered the Adan Keynan led committee, forcing the former CS to withdraw her statements and apologize.
The former CS was summoned by PIC to explain why she did not stop the theft at the Youth Fund after she was fixed by her former PS, Peter Mangiti, who accused her of being complicit to the theft.
