Mary Kilobi was born on 16th July 1984 in Kavula village, Bumula sub-county, Bungoma County in Western Kenya. She attended Chwele Girls High School in Bungoma County and thereafter joined Makerere University for her Bachelor of Arts Degree (Literature and Kiswahili).
Fellow journalists at KTN describe her as kind-hearted and composed. She doesn’t display the tendencies of the Kenyan Socialites that get immersed with fame after hitting the television news screens.
Mary Kilobi marries Francis Atwoli
Mary Kilobi is married to Francis Atwoli. The two lovebirds had their union in 2016 but formalized their traditional marriage in 2018. The new broke out to the public limelight after her ‘disastrous’ and estranged fiance Jack Wanami Wamboka claimed that Cotu Secretary general Francis Atwoli is a wife snatcher.
“He proposed to me but I said no. But he insisted, saying that he was serious and would wait for even 1,000 years for me to say ‘yes’ and marry him, but I have now realised that age should never be a key consideration in a relationship. Atwoli is that guy who is never bothered about mundane issues that sometimes break up marriages,” says Kilobi.
Kilobi is Atwoli’s third wife and she has no problem being part of a polygamous family. She claims that she married Atwoli out of love and not money. The couple lives at their IIbisil home in Kajiado County.

Mary is currently working with Standard Group Limited as a Kiswahili news Anchor/ Reporter with KTN Kenya.
Before Joining KTN Kenya, Mary worked as a Producer/Editor/ Anchor with Uganda Broadcasting corporation (UBC) for four years.
Mary is an Author of a Kiswahili teaching book ‘Jifunze Kiswahili’ that is currently sold in major bookshops in Uganda and Congo. She is a motivational and inspirational Speaker.
Previously she has worked in Mumias Sugar and also as a date entry clerk.

Losing a Colleague, friend and mentor in the Media Industry is no easy thing and reporting the news of their demise is one of the most heartbreaking things to do while performing your duties as a newscaster.
This statements were evident enough as Mary was reading the 7pm KTN Leo news. The news was dominated by the death, burial, and life moments of the late Ahmed Dharwesh and Kilobi Mary was struggling to hold her tears as she was reading the news from the cue.
Despite all odds though, Mary had to rise to the occasion and present news as diligently as she would on any other day.
