Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, has hinted that he may be former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s running mate in 2017’s Presidential Election.
Speaking at the burial of James Nyangweso in Khwisero, Vihiga, on Thursday, Atwoli said that he will form a coalition with CORD leader, Raila Odinga, in 2017 because they share the same agenda of eliminating corruption in Kenya.
“If I were the President, I would sack public servants who bring political delegations to me. We should focus on developing our country for the young generation and not politicking. Those in panic are the ones who have started moving up and down and disturbing women with handouts. But I want to say that we will put you in your rightful place when time comes,” Atwoli said.
The COTU boss said he believes the Luhya community has faith in him and will support him if he goes for the top seat.
“The Western Community has faith in me. I have money, two wives and 15 children, traditional cows and homestead. The Baluhya Community will listen to what I say and you will witness it soon in Bukhungu Stadium,” Atwoli said.
Atwoli’s revelation that he may be Raila Odinga’s running mate in 2017 may not be welcomed well by Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, who are also hoping to be his running mate.
