Jacque Maribe and Joseph Kuria Irungu

Jacque’s current boyfriend and fiancé is Joseph Kuria Irungu. Their love life was blossoming until the fateful night of Thursday, September 20, 2018 when the murder of business woman Monica Nyawira Kimani was reported at her Kilimani apartment in Nairobi and the prime suspect was Joseph Kuria Irungu aka ‘Jowie’.

During inquiry Mr. Kuria, Jacque and their lawyer gave conflicting testimonies which made even Jacque Maribe become a person of interest.

Irungu told the investigating officers that he had picked Jacque from a club in Kilimani on the night of September 20, 2018 and drove to their house in Royal Park estate, Langata. He claimed that they arrived in the estate at about 1.30 am when he saw three men standing outside. After taking Jacque inside the house he went back to the gate to check what was happening but he claimed to have been shot.

Amazingly, Irungu said he went back to the house and informed Jacque Maribe of the shooting incidence and that is when the Drunk Jacque drove him to Nairobi West Hospital where he was attended to and sent home.

Surprisingly, they also claimed to have also sought medical services the same night from Langata Hospital for the gunshot wound but things took another twist when one of their lawyers told a Kiambu court that the couple also went to Kijabe Mission Hospital.

According to the investigating officers, preliminary findings show no shooting incident was reported at the scene. Neighbours and guards told police they did not hear any gunshots.

Joseph Kuria Irungu is currently held at Muthaiga Police Station pending completion of investigations

On Saturday, 29th September, 2018, the State decided that Jacque Maribe will face charges as an accomplice to the murder of Monica Nyawira. Maribe was arrested shortly after 7pm and taken to Gigiri Police Station where she spent the weekend awaiting to be arraigned in court on Monday, 1st October, 2018 at Kiambu law Courts.

On this same Saturday, homicide detectives recovered a gun in a house neighbouring Maribe’s in an estate in Langata. They believe that was the gun used by Irungu. This gun, which was found in the possession of a Mr Brian Kasaine was taken for ballistic tests to determine if it is related to a bullet that was discovered under Maribe’s bed on Monday.

It is also said that a hand bag and a wallet thought to belong to Monica had been found in Maribe’s house at her house in Royal Park, Lang’ata. Police also believe that Jacque knew that her fiancé Joseph Irungu had killed Monicah but failed to report.

After being arraigned in court on Monday, 1st October, 2018, Jacque Maribe’s lawyer Katwa Kigen pleaded for her to be released on bail but the Kiambu court declined the plea and ordered that she be held for further 10 days in Gigiri Police Station pending further investigations.

Jacque Maribe and Dennis Itumbi

Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the president, Dennis Itumbi and Jacque Maribe share a true friendship that keeps getting better.

Dennis Itumbi surprised Jacque on her birthday on 18th December 2015 at the Citizen TV studios.

Jacque had just completed reading the 1 pm news bulletin when Dennis Itumbi made his way into the studio and presented the cake to her, sang and wished her a happy birthday all in full glare of the cameras.

Jacque could not hold back her excitement as she broke into tears of joy. Dennis Itumbi did not relent to share the birthday message he has for Jacque.

“May she laugh hard, may God keep her and bless her. Happy birthday Jacque!” wished Dennis Itumbi.

NTV’s Larry Madowo was also in the building, and he took the opportunity to send Jacque a hearty message. “Happy birthday Jacque; I am not going to sing (to you) because my voice is terrible. Congratulations in all your success. You are really talented and a hardworking lady. You are a gift to journalism” said Larry Madowo.

Social activist Boniface Mwangi who was also present at the Citizen Television’s headquarters shared his wishes too.
“I can barely sing, but I wish you (Jacque) a happy birthday. Keep doing what you do, and keep rocking! Represent and stay young.” Boniface Mwangi added he respects Jacque’s work ethic. She goes beyond limits; ako na bragging points kutuliko sisi wote!”

Jacque Maribe and Eric Omondi

Jacque Maribe has also been romantically linked to top comedian Eric Omondi, who confirmed they had a relationship. “Yes, I have had a relationship with Jacque,” Eric Omondi said.

The affair became evident after the two were spotted in several social venues looking in love. But it was during Jackie’s all-white birthday when the affair came to the surface.

Unable to conceal their burning fire, the two locked lips, kissing passionately paparazzi’s captured the moment. Eric later played the episode down saying theirs wasn’t a romantic kiss.

“I did it because it was her birthday,” Eric said back then. After being asked if he is Jacque’s baby daddy he said, “I can’t talk about that.” Eric Omondi says the two are no longer an item adding that he moved on.

After Jacque Maribe was arrested for being a murder suspect, Eric Omondi commented on claims that he is the father of TV journalist Jacque Maribe’s son.

Eric said that he knew who the baby daddy was, but this was not a good time to reveal him.  “I know the baby daddy; however, it is not a good time to reveal him, Jacque Maribe is undergoing a difficult time,” he said. His words came after a close friend to both Maribe and him said the comedian was the real father of her son.

This friend said that after Eric Omondi broke up with her she was profoundly affected. The friend also disclosed that Eric has been footing child support bills since the baby was born in May 2014.
