Philip Tunoi’s full name is Philip Kiptoo Tunoi. In the professional circles he is known as Hon. Justice Philip Kiptoo Tunoi.

He was appointed Judge at the High Court on May 28, 1987.
In 1993 he was appointed to serve as Judge of the Court of Appeal.
He is the Vice President of East African Court of Justice and the former Chairman of East Africa Judges Training Committee.

Philip Tunoi Ksh. 200 million Bribe by Evans Kidero
The smooth career of Justice Philip Kiptoo Tunoi was rocked by bribery claims against him by a Mr. Geoffrey Kiplagat. Geoffrey Kiplagat alleged that Justice Philip Tunoi was given a Ksh. 200 million bribe by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to influence the outcome of an election petition file against him by Ferdinand Waititu.
Mr Kiplagat, a former journalist at Kass FM, detailed in his affidavit how he acted as a bridge between Justice Philip Kiptoo Tunoi and Dr Evans Kidero.
Justice Philip Tunoi was suspended from Supreme Court by President Uhuru Kenyatta and a commission of inquiry formed to investigate him.
