Nana Gecaga – Uhuru Kenyatta niece appointed the Acting KICC MD

Nana Gecaga who is President Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece has been appointed the acting MD of KICC by Tourism CS Najib Balala.

Nana’s appointment took effect from Friday 1st April, 2015. She is the sister to Uhuru’s personal assistant Jomo Gecaga.

CS Najib Balala said that she will remain in that position until the position is competitively filled.

Nana owns the Bora Ubora PR firm which has currently been getting a good chunk of government deals. In 2009, Nana was instrumental in securing the MTV Africa Music Awards that earned Kenya a lot of fame locally and internationally.

Nana Gecaga has worked as Balala’s marketing and special programmes advisor, having been seconded from the KICC where she worked as head of marketing.

She has also worked with international firms on various projects and was involved in bringing international celebrities to Kenya to showcase products including conference tourism.

She has a degree in marketing from the American InterContinental University, London, and a wealth of experience in PR and marketing.

Nana and Mathare MP Stephen Kariuki are co-habiting for five years but are not yet officially married.

She has two children with Stephen Kariuki. One was born immediately after the 2013 elections and the other was born in 2015.

Nana Gecaga Ksh. 600,000 UK maid

in 2014, Nana had hired a maid from United Kingdom whom she was paying Ksh 600,000 in salary to teach her child manners, grammar and good etiquette.

This caused a stir in the social media with people asking how many people such an amount could have hired here in Kenya.
