Mashirima Kapombe was born Born in Voi Town in Taita Taveta County. At age four the family moved to Nyeri after her father changed jobs.
She is a Kiswahili News Anchor and Reporter with a passion for human interest stories at KTN Kenya.
Mashirima Kapombe says telling stories on set or in the field is the most fulfilling job for her. It gives her great pleasure and satisfaction when people get help or others are inspired by her stories or anchoring.

Mashirima Kapombe Education Background
Mashirima attended Condolata Primary School in Nyeri. Later she joined Bishop Gatimu Ngandu in Karatina.
For her Communication, Electronic Media Degree she joined Daystar University Athi River Campus from 2008 – 2012.
Mashirima Kapombe Job History
Mashirima was the Station Manager, News and programme presenter presenting in both English and Kiswahili on radio from May 2010 – May 2011 at 103.1 Shine FM (Daystar University’s Radio station).
She worked as an intern at KBC for 7 weeks between May and June 2011 before moving to Qfm where she worked both as an intern and contracted news reader for 6 months. She would also do stories for NTV on her off days.
By the end of 2011, NTV hired Mashirima as an anchor/reporter where she got the opportunity to learn and grow for a year and a month before moving to KTN on Feb 4, 2013 until now.
It is at KTN that she has had a bigger opportunity to do long-form features, anchor and tell stories in Kiswahili which is her absolute passion.

Mashirima’s Dad is a Dentist in Nyeri County. He is a Giriama from Kilifi County. Her mum is a Taita from Voi, Taita Taveta County.

Mashirima has a baby boy who she bore together with Comedian Kazungu Matano popularly known as Otoyo.

Comedian Kazungu Matano popularly known as Otoyo is said to be dating KTN’s Swahili anchor Mashirima Kapombe.
This is after in 2014 he posted a photo of the beautiful Mashirima with a caption that suggests more than platonic friendship. The caption read, “Osiep chunya” which is Luo for “A friend of my heart.”
Sources said the two have been dating for close to two years but it is until in 2014 they decided to go public. Kazungu Matano also put her as his cover photo on Facebook.
However Mashirima denies that she is dating someone and says she is single.
