Joshua Sang background

Joshua Sang was born in Seum Village, Cherangany Constituency in Kitale, Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya in 1975.

He is the son of Mr Kipsang Keter and Ms Emmy Keter.

Joshua Arap Sang went to several Primary schools namely Kipkeikei Primary School, Konyao Primary School, Kabichbich Primary School and Seum primary school where he sat for his KCPE exams in 1989.

He Joined Kitale Academy for his O level Secondary Education where he did his KCSE in the year 1993.

After many attempts over many years Joshua Sang finally joined Kenya Institute of Mass Communication – KIMC where he graduated in 2006.

He also Joined Moi University Nairobi Campus where he is still pursuing a degree in Journalism Studies.

Joshua arap Sang is married to one wife who is called Truphosa Sang. They got married while at Sayare FM in 2003. It is after their marriage that good tidings blew his way. He relocated to Nairobi and landed on another job at a Christian radio station and introduced news segments at the Biblia Husema Broadcasting.

Joshua arap Sang and Truphosa Sang are blessed with three beautiful daughters. They live in Nairobi Kenya.

Joshua Sang’s parents are Mr Kipsang Keter and Ms Emmy Keter. They both live in Seum Village, Cherangany Constituency in Kitale, Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya. They are farmers.

Joshua Sang Career

Joshua started his broadcasting career in 2003 when he joined Sayare RTVN in Eldoret. Since he was an ardent christian he got this job as a volunteer presenter in youth programs. He later on became producer cum presenter at the station.

After getting married he relocated to Nairobi where he joined Biblia Husema Broadcasting, a Christian Radio Station, where he introduced news segments.

In 2005 he joined the popular Kalenjin vernacular radio station KASS FM where he was a host of a morning call show called “Lene Emet”. He was also the Head of Operations at the Nairobi based vernacular station.

Joshua Sang left KASS FM in 2012 September to concentrate on his ICC case in the Hague.

Joshua Sang joins politics; to vie for MP, Governor or Senator seat in Trans Nzoia County in 2017

Joshua Arap Sang has announced he has joined politics and he will announce very soon which seat among the Governor, Senator or MP he will be going for.

Joshua began doing business immediately after completing his KCSE examinations in 1993. He mainly dealt with maize selling, fashion and cloths and later on sports wears in Eldoret.

After joining the media industry, he has not yet established any other major business establishment.

Joshua Arap Sang – ICC case collapsed and cases Dropped he was Acquitted and Free

Joshua Sang ICC Case has finally collapsed and Dropped, he is free after being acquitted by ICC Trial Chamber Judges in Hague.

On April 5th, 2016 Joshua Sang was finally acquitted of all charges leveled against him by the ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda.

The announcement was made by The ICC court judges in the Hague based court. The Judges however said that the ICC Prosecutor can however appeal the case.

Joshua Sang William Ruto ICC Case

On March 8, 2011, Joshua Sang, William Ruto, Uhuru kenyatta, Francis Muthaura, Henry Kosgey, Hussein Ali were indicted by the International Criminal Court for charges of crimes against humanity committed during the 2007–2008 post election violence in Kenya.

Joshua Sang charges leveled against him are;

  1. Murder
  2. Deportation or forcible transfer of population; and
  3. Persecution

While working for KASS FM and using his influence as the Head of Operations, The ICC alleged that Joshua arap Sang used his radio platform to utter incitement statements to the effect that Members of the Kikuyu community residing in the Rift Valley Province should go back to Central Kenya.

The ICC went ahead to allege that with orders from William Ruto, he organised Kalenjin youths to attack the villages of Kiambaa, Yamumbi and Langas, all of them in Eldoret.

After the pacification of the 2007-2008 post election violence, a Commission of Inquiry to the violence was set up in February, 2008 by the Kenya Government during the Mediation period by Kofi Annan. The Commission was headed by Justice Philip Waki.

The Waki Commission came up with a list of people who were most culpable for the Post election violence. This list was branded the Ocampo Six because these were the names handed over to the then ICC chief prosecutor Louis Moreno Ocampo

On 15 December 2010, the Prosecutor of the ICC requested Pre-Trial Chamber II of the ICC to issue summonses to appear for Joshua Sang, together with William Samoei Ruto and Henry Kosgey, on the basis that there existed reasonable grounds to believe that they were criminally responsible for crimes against humanity, pursuant to article 7 of the Rome Statute.

On March 8, 2011, Joshua Sang was indicted by the International Criminal Court for the charges of crimes against humanity leveled against him.

An ICC Pre-Trial Chamber summoned him  for the Initial appearance hearing before the court on April 7, 2011, together with William Ruto and Henry Kiprono Kosgey.

The Confirmation of charges hearing was held between 1st to 8th September 2011 and the decision on the confirmation of charges was done on 23 January 2012.

Opening of the trial begun on 10 September 2013 and the case collapsed on 5th April, 2016
