Francis Chachu Ganya was born in 1970 in Marsabit County. He is the member of Parliament of North Horr Constituency in Marsabit County. He has been the MP from 2007 on an ODM Party ticket.

In the National Assembly he is a member of Departmental Committee on Environment & Natural Resources and member of Departmental Committee on Public Works, Roads & Transport from March, 2013. From 2008 till March 3013 he was a member of Joint Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity, Member of House Business Committee and member of Public Accounts Committee.

Francis Chachu Ganya was a pupil at North Horr Primary School from 1978 until 1985.

from 1987 up to 1990 he was a Secondary School Student at Moyale Secondary School.

From 1992 up to 1996 he was an undergraduate Student at St. Lawrence University Canton, Northern New York studying B.A. Environmental Studies & Government.

From 1997 up to 1999 he was a Graduate Student at George Mason University, USA studying M.A. (Public Administration) and also Post Graduate Diploma in Non Profit Management.

Between 1996 and 1999 Francis Chachu Ganya was a Researcher at Management Systems International.

From 1999 to 2000 he was the Executive Director of Pastoralists Integrated Support Program.

From 2002 to 2005 he was the Chair and Director of National Cereals and Produce Board.

From 2007 he has been the President of WAMIP (World Alliance of Mobile Indigenous People)

He was also a co-founder of The Northern Kenya Fund in 2011.

From 2007 he joined elective politics and became the MP for North Horr Constituency on an ODM Ticket (Orange Democratic Movement)

In 2013 again, he retained his MPs seat on the same Party ticket

Since 2007 Francis Chachu Ganya has spoken 1293 times in Parliament.

Francis Chachu Ganya has sponsored one bill in Parliament, The National Drought Management Authority Bill, 2013

He also tabled a motion in Parliament seeking more game rangers to be deployed to curb the increasing cases of poaching. He also proposed more punitive measures to punish the culprits.
